ACT damnit! And NEVER stop....
Ted Olson, David Boise, and the Road to Equality.
When I first read that Ted Olson and David Boies were teaming up in a Federal lawsuit taking on Proposition 8, it sounded like happy if unexpected news.
Then, I read about two of my favorite champions for GLBT rights - the NCLR & ACLU - having the opinion that this was NOT happy news. The time isn't right yet. If the lawsuit is lost, it will set equality back.
Recently, I've read that the big GLBT rights groups wanted to join Ted Olson & David Boies in the lawsuit. Understandable since ready or not, the cards have been slapped on the table. However, Ted Olson & David Boise petitioned a judge to block them from doing so.
There are things about these events that give me a moment's pause. Not the least is that Ted Olson & David Boise were adversaries in the Supreme court case "Bush vs Gore". Sometimes, political news has a whiff of drama and unfolds into strange eventualities.
